Leonard passed away suddenly on Saturday, April 22, 2017 at the General Hospital in Regina. Len, at the age of 90, beloved husband of Phyllis for over 64 years. Loving father of Gerry (predeceased) (Barb Ward), Randy (Donna), Gail Janzen and Donna Schmidt. Cherished grandfather of Mark Ward, Cal Schmidt (Kim Cronan), Logan Janzen, Steven Bromm, Matthew Bromm, Misha Janzen, and great-grandson Randen Schmidt. He will be missed by his brothers Herb and Lorne, predeceased by his brother Raymond and sister Helen Dielschneider. Len will be missed by numerous nieces, nephews and friends. Len was born on the family farm to Anton and Julia Schmidt on April 8, 1927 in Dysart, SK. He started his early education at the Kronau Schoolhouse, and finished high school at Balfour School in Regina. After Len finished school, he worked at several small jobs in Regina during which time he met Phyllis Jackson. They were wed on October 11, 1952 and began their family shortly after. Len eventually went to work for the Sask Wheat Pool during which time he furthered his education as an accountant serving faithfully until his retirement in 1984. After retiring, Len finally had the ability to immerse himself in his passion of restoring antique automobiles. As one of the founders of the Regina Antique Auto Association, he and Phyllis enjoyed many years of travelling around the province and country to attend the various displays and auto shows. They also made a point of making annual trips to the coast to visit family, and as the grandchildren came along, spending time with them became the highlight of his days. A Service of Remembrance will be held on Sunday, May 7, 2017, at 12:00 pm at the Hill Avenue Seventh Day Adventist Church, 3720 Hill Ave. Regina, SK.
