Obituary of Theodore "Ted" Torgunrud

 

Theodore John Torgunrud went to be with his Lord and Savior on Tuesday, June 6, 2017 at the age of 78 years. He was born on the family farm at Maxim, Saskatchewan on July 14, 1938. Ted spent his childhood in Midale, Saskatchewan, moving to Moose Jaw in 1956.  There he married the love of his life, Carrie, in 1961.  Ted graduated from Central Collegiate, and started work at Valley View Centre until early retirement in 1987; then later worked at Angus Campbell Centre until he retired.  Ted was truly a man with a servant heart, unlike anyone else in his gifted ability to connect with persons with special needs.  He was a loving family man, whose greatest joys were being with his children and grandchildren.  He will be lovingly remembered for his unfailing generosity, quirky sense of humour, and the joy he brought to everyone, young and old.  He was predeceased by his parents, Edwin and Anna, sister Odelite and brother Eugene.  He leaves to mourn his passing his wife of 56 years today, Carrie; son, Douglas; daughters: Maureen (David) Wight, Joan (Graydon) Pease, Jennifer (Mike) Tamlin; nine grandchildren: Jonathan, Virginia, Benjamin (Paige), Alexander, Olivia, Celia (Matt), Lindsey (Tyson), Aaron, and Rebecca; brothers: Duane (Doreen), Elwood (Irma); sisters: Audrey (Ed), Olive (Russ), Connie (Obert) and Carolyn (Rick), as well as several nieces and nephews. The family expresses their thanks to the staff of Oxford Place, the hospital and Extendicare.  The Funeral Service will be held on Saturday, June 10, 2017 at 1:00 pm. at Central Lutheran Church, 27 Hochelaga St West, Moose Jaw.
