Obituary of Norman "Alec" Howse
Alec passed away peacefully on October 19th, 2018 three weeks before his 102nd birthday. Alec was born November 7th, 1916 on the farm seven miles South of Avonlea. He was the eldest son of Norman and Ethel Howse and a brother to Russell. Alec attended the one room country school (Moorefield) and obtained his grade 10. Alec served his country in the army during WW II. He was on the ground with the South Saskatchewan Regiment in France, Belgium, Holland, Germany and Czechoslovakia. After the war Alec returned home to the Avonlea/Truax area to farm. Alec married Ruth Schuett in 1951 and together they raised a family of four boys. Alec and Ruth were very proud of their family. They celebrated 65 years together before Ruth’s passing in 2017. Alec will be remembered for his strong character, for being thoughtful, honest, practical, hardworking and always willing to lend a helping hand. Alec is predeceased by his parents, wife Ruth, brother Russell (Elaine), daughter-in-law Gloria, brothers-in-law Clayton, Clifford (Alice) Schuett and sister-in-law Loretta (Gene) Lesmann, niece Karen Leuger and nephew Larry Schuett. Alec will be sadly missed and lovingly remembered by his sons; Ken (Gloria), Wayne (Darlene), Keith (Laurie) and Brian (Adrienne), grandchildren; Dennis (Tracy), Mitchell, Brianne (James), Kurt (Jana), Blaine and Shaun, great-grandchildren Brayden and Macy as well as numerous nieces and nephews. A Celebration of Alec`s life will be held on Monday, October 29, 2018 at 11:00 am at W. J. Jones Chapel, 106 Athabasca St. E., Moose Jaw. Chaplin Joan Rink will officiate. Interment will take place at Rosedale Cemetery. Special thanks to all the Staff and Volunteers at the Veterans Unit of Wascana Rehab Centre, Chaplain Joan Rink and Archbishop Emeritus James Weisgerber for their outstanding care and compassion.
