Obituary of Laura Triggs
Laura Isobel Triggs, 92, passed away peacefully, surrounded by family in Nanaimo, British Columbia on Sunday November 18, 2018. She leaves behind her loving children, Gord, Diana, Cheryl, and Graham; her son-in-law Gordon, daughter-in-law Aprill; grandchildren, Alyssa and Cody, Chris and Jamie, Maria and Charles, Amy and Bobby, Madelyn, Sydney, Kenny, and Blake, great-grandchildren Rylan, Laura, Juliet, Caleb, and Eloise, her sister Jean, brother-in-law Harold, sister-in-law Irene and many nieces, nephews and friends. She was preceded in death by her husband Ken, her second oldest son Grant, her parents, Leon and Hilda McLellan, in-laws, Ray and Hannah Triggs, her siblings, Bill McLellan, Alice Sharpe, Lawrence McLellan, Marge Chapman and Jim McLellan, brother-in-law Jerry Triggs and sister-in-law Edith Peterson and many beloved family members too numerous to mention but not forgotten. Laura McLellan was born on March 18, 1926 in Coderre, Saskatchewan. Her father was a school teacher and taught her to read at a young age and that was one of the joys of her life in addition to cross-stitch, crocheting, coloring and genealogy. As a young woman, she moved to Vancouver and worked as a bookkeeper. She spoke fondly of those years well into her old age. Eventually, she found her way back to Saskatchewan where she met and married Ken Triggs in 1955. She spent the following years as a homemaker and raising their five children. After Ken's death, Laura moved to Edmonton, Alberta to be closer to her children and eventually to B.C. where she spent her final years. Laura was a faithful member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. She spent countless hours studying the life of Christ and serving in various church responsibilities throughout her life, including two full-time Church service missions. She will be greatly missed. The Funeral Service will be held on Saturday, November 24, 2018 at 1:00 pm at Parkview Funeral Chapel, 474 Hochelaga Street, West, Moose Jaw, SK. In living memory of Laura, a memorial tree planting will be made by Jones-Parkview Funeral Services.
